Sorry for the lack of posts over the last week, it was our half term holiday and we took our younger two away for a break. However, we are now home and I’ve a video to share today of this colorful birthday card. Recently I highlighted one of the new designers to Waffle Flower, Big Bear And Bird and created a card in their soft and sweet style. Well today I thought I’d highlight another of the new designers included in the Winter 2017 release; Helen Dardik and her quirky, colorful style. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. I stamped the two large images from Enveloper Birthday in Antique Linen Distress Ink on watercolor card. This ink gives an outline to work with but is light enough in color and water reactive so that when watercoloring the ink blends in to the paint to give a no-line watercolor look. I then took my paint palette and in a vibrant color scheme to match Helen’s style, I watercolored a base layer over the various areas of the images. Once dry I went in with darker tones to add details.
Once the watercolor was dry I used Faber Castell pencils to sharpen up a few edges and to try to correct a mistake I’d made while painting. I also added some white gel pen details too. Finally I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink and mounted the panel on a Desert Storm card base.

PHOTO BOARDS UPDATE
I wrote recently about the photo back drops I’ve used and the Photo Boards I’m using now. The photos from today use the Putty design for the flat lay photos and the White Washed Wood and Splash Grey for the upright photo. I’ve a video coming hopefully by the end of the week.

I love the warm neutral tones of the Merino board, the rich gorgeous teal of Riviera and the subtle pattern of Patisserie.
