Yes you are at the right blog! I know I often lean towards the soft and subtle side of colors but today I fancied a bold and dramatic pop of color against a black background. I was inspired (as I often am) by Kristina Werner; her beautiful lettering always wows me and I was taken by the white lettering on black of this Instagram post. With this in mind I pulled out the Heart Smile die and combined it with the Circle Of Leaves die. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
I started by blending Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean and Dusty Concord inks in to a panel of white card. I’m excited to see how the new Distress Oxide inks will create backgrounds like this. Can. Not. Wait!
Anyway, back to the card, I splattered water and lifted the color from the droplets with a paper towel and then also splattered a solution of Perfect Pearls too. With my colorful backdrop now complete I die cut two Circle Of Leaves; one from a panel of white card and one from a panel of black card and layered one slightly offset on top of the other. Shari Carroll did a lovely patterned paper version of this here.
I die cut the Heart Smile lettering from white card and simply adhered it to the lower part of the black panel. Then from left over ink blended card I die cut a few Holiday Shapes and covered them with Glossy Accents and finally I also added a few Sparkling Clear Sequins.
