I recently took a gaunt to the local garden centre where they have their Christmas displays in full swing. Along with the traditional colors I loved to see a mix of deep burgundies and coffees mixed with patterns of antique and rose golds. With the inspiration of these colors and patterns set in my mind I used the Henna Patterns set to create a gold border surrounded by a chaos of deep burgundy splattered background. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.

I started by white heat embossing a Henna Patterns image three times across a panel of Neenah Solar White card. I then created masks to cover the border while blending in a gradient of Tattered Rose and Aged Mahogany. Splattering the background with water and then dabbing with a paper towel lifted some of the color to leave highlights. I also splattered with Heidi Swapp gold color shine, white gouache and finally a deep burgundy watercolor.

Lifting the masks I painted the border with Schmincke gold watercolor. If you don’t have access to Schmincke watercolors then I’m sure a Finetec or Zig gold would work equally well.

For the sentiment I cut three of the Believe die from shimmer card and stacked them together and added to the panel. I also gold heat embossed a sentiment from the Believe stamp set, trimmed down and added underneath the die cut so the final sentiment read Believe In The Magic. Finally I embellished with a few sequins and rhinestones before mounting on a white card base.
