For today’s post I had great fun watercoloring the yeti from Beast Friends by My Favorite Things and came across a happy accident! I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
I was planning on some no-line coloring so stamped the yeti in Evening Gray on Saunders Waterford card and watercolored but I wasn’t happy with the definition I’d got so I went over the lines with a brown marker and then trimmed the little guy out. My usual practice when I’ve trimmed out rather than die cut is to run a brush tip marker around the edges to give a finished look. However, the pen I’d used was a bullet nib and so I reached for the only brown marker I had, a Copic marker. When I touched the Copic marker to the edges it soaked in to the absorbent watercolor card to not just give a finished edge but a halo of dark brown. I was about to start again when I realised I really liked the look so this guy might be a bit rough around the edges but I really like the character that brown edging gives LOL.
To give him a little more detail I added some dots of white enamel accents to his scarf, made sure his teeth were nice and white with a white gel pen and then finished with some glossy accents for his mug :D
To finish this simple card I watercolored a panel and layered Snow Drifts cut from more watercolor card on top before popping the yeti on top of those. I white heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of vellum and added that over the top of the winter sky. Finally I mounted the panel on a Fog card base and accented with sequins.

PIN ME
Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
I love your night sky as well. Would love a tutorial on how you did it. What color did you use for the pink? It is absolutely magnificent.
My favorite pink is Daniel Smith quinacridone coral and features in most of my cards :D
Such a pretty night sky! And I love the yeti, you would never have known his brown edges were an accident, and isn’t that pleasing when it works out so well! Super card Debby
Always love a happy accident :D
I LOVE his rough edges! I particularly like how it fades just a bit as it soaked inwards… this guy is just too cute!
must try it again with different colors :D
Wow the sky is beautiful and the image just too cute. I love this and the cute sentiment. Awesome card. Love your cards.
Thanks Billie. As soon as I saw that Yeti I had to buy this set :D
