It’s Hero Arts turn with their Happy Thanksgiving exclusive set for STAMPtember by Simon Says Stamp! I was inspired by German illustrator Ira Sluyterman van Langeweyde; I love the warm tones she uses in her paintings and thought the style would fit with my an autumn pumpkin patch :D I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
I often stamp with Versafine Onyx Black when I’m watercoloring but for this card I wanted to go with a more muted brown to match the colors so I dug around in my old ink pads and found this cube of Versafine Vintage Sepia which fit the bill perfectly. Using post its as a mask where needed, I stamped five pumpkins from the Happy Thanksgiving set on Arches watercolor card and then sketched in pencil a background of tree and bushes.
Then I let my watercoloring be heavily influenced by Ira’s style with warm tones and leaving the sky and foreground without color and added some shadows and details with Prismacolor pencils. I cut the watercolor piece down to fit on the front of a Fog card base and stamped ‘the season of thanks’ from the Happy Thanksgiving set in Versamark ink and white heat embossed. I mounted the watercolor panel above with foam adhesive.
