Wow, the last day of September; it’s sure been a crazy month LOL! I’m delighted today to be a part of a special hop in celebration of the upcoming 7th annual Caring Hearts Card Drive. In case you’ve not heard of the Caring Hearts Card Drive before, Vera (the mastermind behind the card drive) and Jennifer McGuire along with their team of volunteers will be collecting handmade holiday cards from October 1 to November 25 for the elderly that live in nursing homes. Vera will have all the card drive details up on her blog on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016.

SugarPea Designs have a special release to coordinate with this years drive and will be donating 20% of all proceeds from the sale of Caring Hearts stamp sets & dies to the Alzheimer Association.

If you’ve called by here before then you know my love of watercolor and just recently I’ve really been enjoying adding pencil details on top. Well today I’ve got watercolor and pencils but I separated the two LOL. I wanted to try my hand at shading this cute monkey from the Caring Critters set totally in pencil. This cute guy fit perfectly on a Stitched Circle of Ivory card and then I colored away. Pencils are quite opaque though and after coloring a lot of the line detail had been lost and so I went over all the lines with a black marker. This is where I truly appreciate the artistry of the designers as my lines are far from smooth, however, it does help to make this guy pop a little more. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. I wrapped twine around a watercolored Stitched Rectangle and then mounted the circle on top before adding a sentiment from the Caring Hearts set with a banner from Thanksgiving Feast.
