Shaped cards are fun and shaker cards are fun too so I thought I’d double the fun with a balloon shaped shaker card! I paired a Balloon die from Simon Says Stamp with the Birthday Wishes stamp set from Mama Elephant. Now don’t fall off your chair, but I’ve got a video to share below too! I’m not promising to be back in to the swing of things fully for a few more weeks until school is back and the eldest is settled at university, but a little progress is good right?! I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
The supplies for this card are minimal; I blended Sea Glass and Lake Shores ink across a piece of white card and cut with a Balloon die before splattering with paint and perfect pearls. On a piece of Heat Resistant Acetate I silver heat embossed the sentiment from Birthday Wishes and die cut with the same Balloon die. I used my Grandmothers antique sewing machine (it passed its factory test in 1951!) to sew the two layers together with silver thread. I stopped three-quarters of the way around the balloon to push some Purely Peppermint sequins between the two layers and then completed the stitching. For the back of the card I cut another balloon, scored just slightly down from the top of the balloon and then used Ranger Multi Medium Matte to adhere to the shaker. The card then hinges from this score line allowing it to stand up :D This was a fun card for me to make and I hope you enjoy watching the video.

Fabulous shaker! I love this! Sadly, I can’t sew, so I’ll have to figure out another way to affix the acetate. This is a beauty, Debbie!
Fuse tool? Or just stamp the sentiment directly to the balloon and attach sequins with adhesive?
Dear Debby, I fell off my chair….. but I’m okay and I have a HUGE smile on my face! :D LOVE this card! That sewing machine is only one year older than I, LOL. Thanks for this lovely post!
Good things from the 1950’s :D
Loved the video tutorial, Debby. It looked like a fun project to make and the end result is one gorgeous shaker card!
Great to see a video again! I enjoy all of your projects and admire your creative spirit :-) Job well done!
So creative…fun…beautiful! Love your videos, too, Debbie. Thank you for sharing.
A first time seeing this for me.Well done
I love the look of this card! I just have one question…it looks like you’re using vellum, not acetate. If you are using acetate, it looks opaque. I guess either would work, but I just wanted to clarify.
Oops! I stopped the video to ask the question while it was on my mind…if I had just watched a big longer I would have answered my own question.
Yes, I forgot to say at the beginning when I started using the acetate that I kept the backer paper there to make it easier to see what I was doing!
THAT is one beautiful shaker card.
WOW! This is my favorite card ever!! Thank you.
