Gosh the year is flying by! Todays post is part of a fun Hero Art hop to celebrate the new Winter Catalog (more on that below). Yes it’s the time of year to crank up the crafting for all the holidays ahead of us! I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
As soon as I saw the Color Layering Snowy Tree set I was in love with the modern take on a traditional style. I started with a Stitched Rectangle of watercolor card and puddled paint on to the second of the three possible tree layers and then stamped several trees. This gave a faint muted look to the trees as if they were in the misty distance.
I then stamped the solid tree with paint twice to give a some form to the foreground. On top of this watercolor base I stamped the second layer again in a few places this time with Hero Arts Forever Green to definition and depth. I stamped the snow image from the set repeatedly with Versamark ink and then white heat embossed before dipping in to my watercolors again to give a wash of color from deep indigo to the lightest morning light of yellows and pinks. The final touch to the background was to rub Ranger Multi Medium Matte along the bottom of the panel and dip it in to Rock Candy glitter.
With the background finished I stamped the stag in Versamark ink of Ivory card and heat embossed with Antique Gold powder before cutting out with the matching die. I mounted this on a banner of Ivory card stamped in Forever Green with a sentiment from the set. All that was left to do was add a few sequins and mount the panel on a Desert Storm card base :D
