MASTERPIECE BOX
I’m sure by now you’ve all heard the buzz about the new Masterpiece Box! Well todays post is part of a hop with an amazing line up of crafters to celebrate the Masterpiece Box, what’s included and the collaboration of a bunch of companies to bring these never before seen products (which have yet to be released by the individual manufacturers) together in one box. All supplies are linked at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
Just a few points of note; the Masterpiece Box features 15 products from 10 different manufacturers and retails for $199.99. Please note that supplies are limited – once the box is sold out it will not be restocked. Simon started taking orders for Tim Holtz’s Crazy Dogs last week, since this set is included in the box anyone wanting to purchase the box can cancel their preorder for this stamp set. Other sets included have release dates scheduled throughout the rest of this year, right up to December. I’ve added some dates to the graphic so you can see how long before the products will be released.
So this is a wonderful opportunity to get your hands on product way before they will be released by the contributing companies :D
I warn you this is a photo heavy post! I’m showcasing two of the sets from the box and well you know me, I do like to give my camera a work out LOL.
TIM HOLTZ CRAZY DOGS
Let’s start with the Tim Holtz Crazy Dogs set. Following on from the ever popular Crazy Birds and Crazy Cats this set is sure to be a big hit :D I must admit I’m a dog person, although we don’t currently have a dog (two rabbits and a guinea pig) I was bought up with a beautiful Golden Retriever and when we were first married rescued a Collie cross. So yes, definitely a dog person and no doubt a sweet pup will join us again at some point in the future.
On Arches hot pressed watercolor card I stamped two of the dogs in Versafine Onyx Black, accenting one with a tennis ball and one with the lead in his mouth. I usually like the texture of cold pressed card but to get a nice clean impression of these sketchy lines the hot pressed was perfect.
I got out my watercolors and had great fun coloring these two in! I didn’t go for too crazy a color palette keeping mainly to shades of brown but I did add in quite a bit of orange and even some purple shadows in the one with the tennis ball. Don’t their expressions just kill you LOL.
I added a few paint splatters here and there and then once dry die cut with a Stitched Rectangle before stamping a sentiment. For the tennis ball guy I thought the ‘enjoy the little things’ from the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Ride set went well.
And for this sweet guy I chose ‘happiness is contagious’ from the popular Uplifting Thoughts set.
All that was left to do was foam mount the two watercolor panels on Desert Storm card bases :D
HERO ARTS COLOR LAYERING CARDINAL
From crazy to classic with the Hero Arts Color Layering Cardinal set. I love Hero Arts coloring layering sets and the cardinal is a stunner. There are five stamps for the cardinal alone! I roughly planned positioning and then started by stamping the branch in Cup O’ Joe, the leaves in Olive and then moved on to the legs in Cobblestone.
For the base layer of the cardinal I chose Soft Brown then the main feathers in Ripe Persimmon, the feather details in Schoolhouse Red and finished with Onyx Black for the beak area. Afterwards I went in with Prismacolor pencils for a few details here and there. As I’d stamped on Fog card I used a white gel pen to whiten the eye. For the sentiment I used Antique Gold embossing powder for one of the sentiments from the set.
I cut the card with a Stitched Rectangle and then rubbed Pumice Stone ink around the edges before swiping white embossing paste through the Falling Snow Stencil. A final touch was a little platinum stickles to give a frosty sparkle to the branch and then the panel was foam mounted on a Marshmallow card base.
For one more dose of inspiration I shared a quick and easy tag with the Memory Box Fanciful Poinsettia Ornament die yesterday. You can check that out here :D

I can see I am going to have to buy the Crazy Dogs even though I cant keep up with my Crazy Birds!!! The dogs are so cute but I just adore the Cardinal.
Love those Crazy Dogs! I can hardly wait to get them! Your cards with them are adorable. I also love the cardinal, and think that really makes for lovely Christmas cards.
These stamps are absolutely gorgeous and inspirational. I’m sooo excited about them
Love the dogs! I pre-ordered them here as soon as I saw them and got them in the mail this week. I’m suppose to be packing everyone up to leave on vacation tomorrow but just had to make two cards with them first! Ha! As soon as I bought the birds I stated I hoped he gave us dogs someday, so I’m thrilled they are here and with how cute they are, too!
What incredible projects.. Wonderful box!!
