Clearly Besotted sneak peeks start today! The schedule is for the team to share projects 02-05 March and then the release will go live at 10pm UK time (5pm EST) on Saturday 05 March :D So lets jump straight in with Caped Cuties! Such an adorable set and I knew straight away that super Ted here was just perfect for a watercolored night sky :D

I started by stamping the buildings, Ted and the moon with Versafine Onyx Black ink on Arches watercolor card. I taped the card down to a firm board to prevent warping and also to give a nice finished edge to the watercoloring. Once the ink was dry I started bringing in my favorite watercolors. I’m slowly but surely finding my favorites from a selection of different brands (Schmincke, Daniel Smith, Daler Rowney and Winsor & Newton). I have a palette which holds little plastic ‘half pans’ and I’m collecting my favorites together in these so I have a go to palette I can reach for.

I started with some paler colors – greys and yellows adding light washes to the background and then slowly building up the depth of color into dark greys, indigos and purples. Some of the Daniel Smith colors I used (Sugilite, Amethyst Genuine) have built in sparkle and are so pretty!

Once I’d got the night sky sorted and it was dry I then watercolored Ted; again light layers building up the details. The it was time for some splatter for the stars using Schmincke silver.

I’d pulled the darker greys down on to the lower portion of the card so that when the panel was fully dry I could stamp the sentiment in Versamark ink and white heat emboss. Then it was just a case of a foam mounting the panel on a Fog card base and adding a couple of sequins.

The new Caped Cuties set will go live along with the rest of the new release at 10pm UK time, 5pm EST, on 5th March at Clearly Besotted and Simon Says Stamp.
