The last time I used this Doodle Background stamp I watercolored over it for this card, however with that name I had to pull it out again for an ink blended background to go with this fun flamingo! I mean with their weird combination of elegant silhouette and quirkiness, who doesn’t smile at a flamingo.

I started by stamping the Doodle Background in Versamark ink and white heat embossing before blending in a range of dye inks to give an ombre effect  – working from the bottom up I used Hot Lips, Burnt Orange, Sunkist, Apricot, Sunshine and Duckling. I then die cut the panel with a Frame die to give a polished edge.

I also stamped the fun sentiment from the Choose Happy set in Versamark and white heat embossed that on vellum before stitching it to the background on one side and discreetly adding a few pieces of foam adhesive too so it was fully secured.

To accent I trimmed the white outline away from the My Mind’s Eye flamingo (that is part of the On Trend 2 collection I was particularly enamoured with at CHA) and adhered with foam adhesive before accenting the panel with sequins and mounting on a Marshmallow card base on which I’d rounded the corners.
