Today’s post is a fun hop to celebrate the new Hero Arts 2016 catalog! More on that below but I’m going to inundate you with photos as I have two cards to share :D

First up is this one using the You’re So Lovely set. The technique for this card is so simple and yet I find it packs a real punch. To start I stamped the sentiment in the middle of a panel of Arches watercolor card with Versamark and gold heat embossed.

Then I stamped the various flower, berry and leaf images with Distress Markers; coloring directly to the stamp, huffing on them so my breath added a little moisture and then stamping.

After which I took a just-damp paint brush and moved the color around slightly, adding in some shadows here and there by picking up more of the marker colors scribbled on to an acrylic block.

Finally I rubbed around the edges of the panel with Tattered Rose and Frayed Burlap Distress Inks, mounted on to a Desert Storm card base and added a few sequins and rhinestones to accent.

My next card uses the gorgeous Color Layering Large Orchid set. On a panel of Solar White card I stamped the flower layers in Soft Vanilla, Butter Bar and Mango and the leaves in Charcoal.

I accented the flowers lightly with a white gel pen and the leaves with a glitter gel pen before cutting the panel with the A2 Card Curved Edge die to give a rounded swoop to the bottom edge.

I used the same die to help me align the sentiment from the set on a card base cut from Charcoal layering papers and then stamped with Versamark and white heat embossed before mounting the panel with foam tape on top.
