The Crazy Cats set from Tim Holtz is simply a hoot! I mean look at the expressions on these guys LOL.
Inspired by the Crazy Birds cards that Kristina Werner made a little while back, I picked two cats with the expressions which killed me most and stamped them on Arches watercolor card with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then used Schmincke watercolors to add some crazy coloring LOL. I painted the cat with fish card first and thought that he looked suitably ashamed and guilty so gave him an embarrassed blush to his cheeks and also his tummy as if even his tummy was ashamed of eating the fish!
Next I colored the slightly dazed looking cat with the milk bottle. I thought he was looking so dazed he could almost be a bit queasy and so I picked some greens to represent that and combined those with blues for contrast.
Next came the sentiments! It was an easy choice for the cat with the fish – he had to be apologising so I dug through my stamp sets and found this sentiment from Avery Elle’s Handwritten Notes set which was just perfect. However, what to put for the queasy cat, hmmmm, combining the dazed look with the milk bottle and well I did think he looked a bit hung over! I rarely drink myself (getting up early with three kids soon put paid to that LOL), however I do know a few people who enjoy the odd tipple and thought this sentiment from Adult Beverage Sayings fit the bill!
Both sentiments were stamped with Versafine Onyx Black to get the best impression on this textured watercolor card. Having completed the two scenes I cut the panels with a Stitched Rectangle.
To add some warmth to the edges I rubbed Brushed Corduroy around the fish card and Iced Spruce around the milk card.
Finally I mounted both panels on Desert Storm card bases.
I know these cards are slightly different to my usual style, but we have a range of family and friends who have different tastes and it is good to have a little variety in our stash of handmade cards :D
