I recently video reviewed the new pigment markers from Winsor & Newton, trying them on a number of different cardstock, marker paper and vellum. I particularly loved the behaviour and appearance of the pigment markers on vellum so finally having found a little creative time I pulled out one of my favourite flower images, Clearly Besotted’s Beautiful Friend, to white heat emboss and color.
I have the colors from the Rich Tones set which as their name suggest are rich and vibrant in color, but you know me, I do love my soft and subtle tones. Well that’s where the magic of the white blender happens; I scribbled the rich colored markers on an acrylic block and picked up touches of the color with the white blender. This way the vibrant Carmine red mixes with the white to become a delicate pink. As you continue to color the pink slowly fades to the palest of pale – so beautiful. The effect of the markers on the vellum is quite paint like with a chalky texture, the nibs of the markers leaving trails in the texture.
Having used the Rich Tones set with white blender included to color the flower I then trimmed it out and layered it on a Stitched Dress Up Tag cut from Fog card and white heat embossed with the Tiny Alphabet Background. I cut several Painted Thanks from white card and glued them together adding this to the tag with sprinkling of sequins. Now here’s one other interesting thing about the pigment markers – see the paint splatters on the white panel the tag is layered on? Yes, those are from the Pigment Markers too! I picked up some of the spare marker from the acrylic block with a water brush and tapped the color on to the panel. Finally everything is popped on a top folding Fog card base.
I hope to be back soon experimenting with these markers on other media, however, it might be a little while with the time constraints of the season, I hope you will bear with me.

Gorgeous card. Can you achieve a similar effect with Copics? Please say yes, I can’t afford more markers.
If you choose light colored Copics and colored on the back of the vellum then yes Karen you can do something similar with Copics :D
Your card is just so soft and pretty. Love it.
Are the rich tones markers included in the set of 36?
Almost with a slight difference – in the rich tones you get phthalo blue deep while in the 36 you get phthalo blue but all the others are in there I see :D
TY for the answer. SSS is out of the 36. If I buy from Amazon do you still get commission?
Thank you for your support Carol. I think I have Amazon set up for commission too :D
Beautiful! This is just so gorgeous, which I think you are the “queen” of!!
Beautiful and delicate card.
Beautiful card with soft colors. The sequins are fabulous too!
Utterly stunning design and beautiful colours. I simply adore this Debby!!
I knew you’d come up with something perfectly beautiful. ^_^ Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas. ♥♥♥
Simply lovely :)
So pretty, the colouring is absolutely beautiful :-)
Debbie, of course we will be patient and wait for a new video. you are so worth waiting for. I wanted to ask you if you colored the vellum on the front of the vellum or on the back of the vellum. with copics I always had to go for the back. wow, you did amazing things with the white blender pen and just those few markers. the colors are so creamy and dreamy and just the shades that I love. oh dear, I want to buy the set. I had another question for you. is the color marked mauve really a bright purple like it is shown in the SSS store? i’m so in love with the clearly besotted flower stamps. my list of things to try is a mile long. LOL I have such a hard time trying to catch up to you. lol (I don’t have much hope I just keep running as fast as I can.lol) thanks so much for all of the wonderfully lovely creations that you come up with. hugs, treen
Hi Treen, I really appreciate your patience, thank you :D I colored the flowers on the front of the vellum. The markers are so new I’ve not heard if embossing powders will damage the nibs I just went for it! I do tend to stick within the lines though. As for the colors, yes these straight out the marker are bright! However, with the white blender you have the option to mute them down as I did. Thanks for calling by Treen and enjoy the season :D
