The lover of soft neutrals in me is drawn towards Halloween decor which concentrates on neutrals, black and gold. So when I reached for the Stitched Pumpkins dies I wanted to create a gold gourd to go with the little white one I’d cut from watercolor card. I also started with watercolor card for the gold pumpkin and initially tried painting it with gold Gansai Tambi paint. Hmm, not quite the look I wanted so I tried Winsor & Newton gold gouache but again not quite right.
Then I tried my favourite Heidi Swapp color shine gold spray – OK, now we are talking! I sprayed then waited for it to dry … except I was impatient so hit it with my heat tool. Oh interesting, when heating, the spray bubbles up a bit to create a bumpy gold gourd – perfect! It took 3 or 4 layers of spray to get a good coating.
Having got my two pumpkins I swept a loose wash of black paint on a watercolor panel and when dry splattered with more of the Heidi Swapp gold then mounted the pumpkins on top.
The sentiment is from Not So Spooky stamped with Versafine Onyx Black, a great detail ink to counteract the texture of the watercolor card, trimmed out and mounted over a strip of gold and kraft washi. A twine bow and a sprinkling of sequins finished off the panel which is then mounted on a Desert Storm card base.
I will be back tomorrow with my first look at the new Create Joy release from Simon Says Stamp!

Well, you did it again! Nice card, and love that gold shine and bold contrast in colors.
