I just can’t put the watercolors down at the moment. I found the latest Online Card Class as inspiring as ever and have ordered a couple more different media to experiment with in the future – Dr Ph Martin’s Hydrus watercolors and also some traditional Winsor & Newton watercolor tubes. I will let you know how I get one with them. In the meantime for todays card I reached for my current favourite Gansai Tambi paints to watercolor layers of color to this gorgeous Altenew Fresh Freesia.
The flower is firstly stamped in Versamark on Canson watercolor card and White heat embossed then I started with a wash of water over one petal and added in a subtle layer of watercolor before letting it dry and moving on to the next petal and eventually the leaves and stem too. Once the first layer was dry I went back in with a slightly deeper tone and once that layer was dry in again with a deeper tone still.
After going back and forth with layers of color I was eventually happy and then added a subtle blue wash to the background and once dry used a little of the left over blue paint to add splatters.
The sentiment from the set is stamped in Versamark and gold heat embossed before mounting the panel on a Desert Storm card base and adding a couple of sequins to finish.
I am truly loving to watercolor at the moment. I put on some music, podcast or TV show that I can sort of half listen to and half zone out of while I get my paints, brush and jug of water out and paint away creating a fabulous mess in the process! Here’s a shot of my desk from yesterday when I was prepping for the October Clearly Besotted release coming next week. I was in my happy place with some rare sunshine streaming through the windows :D

I am finding a pull towards playing with watercolors and would love to take a class.
You’re cards are beautiful.
An interested newcomer to using inks and paints; rather than just stamping.
