Oh I’ve got an exciting post today! STAMPtember is now in full swing and we’ve already started to see wonderful collaborations between Simon Says Stamp and industry favourites. Well today it’s the turn of the one and only Tim Holtz!
We all love Tim’s style and I know that this STAMPtember 2015 set is going to fly off those shelves like hot cakes LOL. The set comprises a collection of 6 stamps in Tim’s unique blueprint style. I’ve a giveaway of this set which I will cover later, but for now let’s jump in to this distressed notepage I made.
I was drawn to the camera imagine due to my love of photography but also the play of words of the sentiment got my mind ticking. Keeping things in perspective is something I need to work on and I’m sure I’m not the only one when today’s world seems to spin at an ever-increasing pace. I thought the image would be perfect for the front of a notebook, however, the kraft cover of this notebook could easily be switched out for a kraft card base too.
The image is stamped in Versafine Onyx Black on Canson watercolor card and then I loosely watercolored a wash of blue with Gansai Tambi paints. Once dry I splattered a solution of Perfect Pearls over the panel and then while that dried I stamped the image again on a scrap of the Canson card. I trimmed the camera out and colored, again with Gansai Tambi paints, bringing in the pearlescent paint from the set for the shimmer of the silver camera body often found in this type of camera. You can see the shimmer and also the Perfect Pearls better in this photo.
I used the Notebook Edges dies to cut the top edge then rubbed Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy around the edges before adding a couple of strips of washi, stitching and wood veneer stars.
The now distressed notepage is clipped to a piece of patterned paper and a strip of old book paper tucked in before attaching everything to the notebook with more of the washi.
