I can’t put the new The Color Of Fun release from Simon Says Stamp down! Todays layered stamping uses the Many Thanks set; a collaboration between Simon and the amazing Dawn Woleslagle of Wplus9. Not only does Dawn design but she is an amazing artist – have you seen her watercoloring? Stunning! Dawn is able to translate that wonderful painterly feel into her designs and the Many Thanks set is a perfect example; the seemingly random shapes suddenly transform into leaves and flowers as you layer the images over one another.

To start I roughly planned a layout around the brush script sentiment; laying it where I wanted on a White panel die cut with a Stitched Rectangle. I layered three flowers around the sentiment and when happy with the rough plan took to the new inks! I started top left with the flower stamped in Duckling with accents in Orange Peel and added leaves in Catkin with Olive for the depth. That’s the great thing with the new inks; they work so well with ones we already have providing perfect combinations for layering. For the bottom right flower I used the new Rosie Cheeks with Hot Lips to accent. Again Catkin and Olive leaves and I squeezed another yellow flower in next to it, this time adding in a little Sunshine for more colour variation. The sentiment is stamped over the flowers using Versafine Onyx Black and I added my usual sprinkling of Sequins.

I wanted to add just a little something more so dipped a paint brush in Gold Spray Mist and touched the brush to the panel. If I’d been thinking of this in advance I’d have splattered the card more randomly with the mist once the flowers were stamped and before adding the sentiment and sequins, but the paintbrush did the job too. Finally the panel is mounted on a top folding Fog card base.

I used the Misti tool for my stamping; I love how I can stamp an image multiple times to get a deeper colour or correct a mis-stamped image. Using the Misti this card would be so easy to make multiples of and I must remember that next time, but I’m like a kid in a candy shop with the new products and I’m rearing to explore another idea! Do you find that new products really kick your mojo into gear? If you fancy some inspiration check out The Color Of Fun release :D
