Today’s post combines not only Copics and Distress Inks but also the start of Clearly Besotted sneak peeks with a fun hop to celebrate the start of Kathy Racoosin’s next 30 Day Colouring Challenge! More on the hop below plus news on discount codes but the premise of the challenge is to colour something everyday even if it’s for five minutes. It doesn’t matter what you colour or what you are colouring. However, today Kathy has asked all the teachers and guest artists that taught in the popular “Copic Markers for Cardmakers” class to hop along so I guess for today at least there will be lots of lovely Copics!
Back to the card for now, the new Sunshine & Smiles set (due for release 5th June) has two fabulous flower images just perfect for taking centre stage! I stamped the sunflower in Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Solar White and coloured with Copics. To the flower centre I added dots of Signo Uniball White and Sakura Glitter Pen and the petals were also dosed with a bit of glimmer with Zig Wink of Stella.
Loved it, but for once the white background didn’t feel right to me so I started with a light spray of BG10 and BG11 with the Airbrush System. Hmmm still wasn’t happy so I bought in a light blend of Tumbled Glass Distress Ink then before you knew it I’d added in touches of Antique Linen, Bundled Sage and Dried Marigold :D After which I sprayed the panel with a good splattery dose of Perfect Pearls solution (scoop of Perfect Pearls mixed up in a Mini Mister).
The sentiment is stamped in Versafine Onyx Black, a Twine bow wrapped around and a few enamel dots added for good measure. The completed panel is offset mounted on a Desert Storm card base stamped with Diagonal Stripes from Simon Says Stamp in Versamark and a paper doily peeping out.
The new Sunshine & Smiles set will be released on 5th June at 10pm UK time (5pm EST) along with the rest of this month’s release at Clearly Besotted and Simon Says Stamp. In the meantime check out Stephanie for more inspiration and links to the rest of the Design Team :D
