There’s a video later in this post – I know, quite the rarity around here at the moment LOL. I couldn’t resist though; have you seen all the deliciousness coming out of Waffle Flower recently?! Take, for example, this gorgeous Potted set; perfectly on the succulent/cacti trend and begging out to be watercolored! I took my colour inspiration from a Waffle Flower Blog Post which highlighted gorgeous ways succulents are being used at the moment. In fact this post is over on Waffle Flower too :D
This is such a simple card but the gorgeous image just takes centre stage and not a lot else is needed :D I used Versamark Ink to stamp on watercolour card and white heat embossed. Then it was a case of simply indulging in a little colouring time with the richly pigmented Gansai Tambi paints.
I took a deep breath and hoped I didn’t mess up as I stamped the sweet ‘miss you’ sentiment from the set in Versafine Onyx Black. I added a few sequins and mounted the panel on a Fog card base. As a final touch I made a toning envelope too which hopefully brings out the colour of the terracotta pot :D

I would love to watch your video – but You Tube keeps telling me that it’s private – beautiful watercoloring
Hope you can see it now Tanja. It should be there …
Well, now I am completely in love with white heat embossing. The way it allows you to watercolor like this makes me want to stop everything I SHOULD be doing and STAMP!
Stamping should always win in my book Celia!
FABULOUS! I love watercolors and your C & S style!
Wow! Well done. I’ve never been good at painting but watching this makes me want to try harder. How long have you been water coloring? Every time I see this technique I am floored by how beautiful it looks. Thank you for sharing.
This is such an easy technique to pick up Caralyn! I’ve only been watercoloring the last year or two and not all the time or anything, switching between different media as the mood takes me. Laying down that water layer first though really does all the work for you :D
Beautiful watercolored card. Enjoyed watching how you painted this scene. Thank you for sharing.
Debby I just love how it came out…definitely keep adding that detail, it made a huge difference! :)
Stunning – a Mimi masterpiece
Beautiful! I actually just ordered that exact stamp set. I had some ideas, but this is absolutely gorgeous. I am not going to rest till it come. I CAN’T wait.
Thank you for the inspiration!!!!!!
Debby, you are an amazing artist and a delightful person. What JOY to give to us all by sharing your art through your blog. THANK YOU! and God bless.
So enjoyed your video and watching you paint. Great tip on embossing the design 1st. Also liked your tip on “pre-stamping on scrap” to assure a fully inked stamp! Thank you for taking the time to share!
