Isn’t Abby just the sweetest! I hear the inspiration behind Shari Carroll’s new set, Abby’s Spring Showers, was Heidi Crowl’s (owner of Simon Says Stamp) daughter, Abby :D Yep, so sweet! The set is part of the new Hop To It released which went live yesterday.

Using Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Solar White cut with a stitched rectangle, I stamped the little girl and umbrella as if she’d discarded it to splash in the puddle. The images were coloured with Copics and then the puddle image stamped in Sea Glass and Audrey Blue ink. I stamped all the images again on masking paper, trimmed out and adhered along with a couple of clouds die cut using the Cloud Bank die. Once everything was covered I gave the panel a coating of light blue copic with the airbrush system and then used grey markers to ground the image.

When I colour little girls I often reflect back on when my daughter was little and she had a lovely patterned rain jacket so I stamped elements of the image on patterned paper to piece the rain jacket and wellies. Things were starting to come together now, so I added some Audrey Blue water splashes and then broke out the Glossy Accents to give the jacket, wellies, puddle, splashes and umbrella a really good coating. Tick tock, tick tock ….. I’m so impatient waiting for glossy accents to dry! But I was good, pushed the panel away and started to open my mail when a piece of paper fell on the still slightly wet surface of the umbrella. Grrrrr, however, not wanting to start over, a couple of sequins covered the little accident! The sentiment is stamped in Black on a Tiny Tag and threaded with American Crafts twine.

I really tried to capture the shine on this card, however when I was photographing it last night it was almost dark and I kept turning it this way and that to try and get a glint of light on the glossy accents. You can just about catch a glimmer of it in this photo, however when I was making the card and the glossy accents was still wet (prior to the need to add sequins) I snapped a photo and shared it on Instagram :D
