I am loving the December 2014 Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp! One item in the kit has particularly surprised me – the vellum. Normally I’m a great proponent of the thick, sturdy vellum which holds up well to heat embossing so I wasn’t sure what I was going to think of the paper vellum … but I really love it! It is very much a paper and not a card but this leaves it flexible and despite being handled lots it did really well – no annoying little white marks which you can get with the thicker vellums. But the big question, how did it hold up to heat embossing? Well, really well too! The powders melted beautifully and the flexibility of the paper meant that it didn’t really warp. The only issue I had was supporting it when embossing as the paper moves in the waft of the heat gun. I fixed this by taping the paper to a piece of card while I was embossing :D
So having given the vellum a good workout, what did I do with it; well, first I stamped both the gorgeous ‘sparkle and shine‘ sentiment and the circle image and then cut with a circle die. I also cut some more circles from the two blue (Sea Glass and Surf Blue) and silver card from the kit. The circles are all loosely layered over each other using discreetly hidden adhesive for the vellum and then I tucked in an Abby and Melody die cut snowflake cut from glitter card.
There’s a sprinkling of the gorgeous sequins from the kit along with a few of the tiny heart pieces which are the negative little bits from the Abby snowflake :D The final touch was a flourish of Lawn Fawn twine.
The new December 2014 Card Kit can be bought for $24.95 as a one-off or if you fancy getting a lovely Simon Says Stamp box filled with goodies every month then you can pick up a Subscription for $19.95 :D

Another fabulous card from that kits. So many possibilities. I love it.
beautiful cards! Thanks for sharing…. lovely!
This is a fabulous card!!! I love the layered circles with the vellum on top, I absolutely love all your cards.
I was wondering though if you’ve ever had an issues with your dies and getting the detail to cut through, and if you have any tips on die cutting the snowflakes with glitter paper. I’ve tried recently because I purchased those lovely snowflakes and thought they would look awesome on a card, but when I put it through the machine (I have the teal big shot)it didn’t cut through all the way. I am new to card making so I figure I`m doing something wrong but tried putting the die face up and then tried it face down. I eventually tried regular card stock got it to cut through but had to run it through back and forth several times – is that normal? Any insight would be great.
Really beautiful card, Debby! I also love vellum with heat embossing! Love your pretty snowflakes, too!
So pretty!
Great cards you made with that kit.
Hugs
