My card today not only showcases the gorgeous new Winter Blooms set from Clearly Besotted but is also part of a hop to support a great cause. Here’s a little more about Caring Hearts Card Drive:
The holidays are just around the corner, filled with opportunities to celebrate with family and friends. But during this special season, many of the elderly who live in nursing homes may be alone and missing their families. Wouldn’t it be awesome to bring smiles to their faces and brighten their holidays? That’s what the Caring Hearts Card Drive is all about! This wonderful card drive was started by Vera Yates and Jennifer McGuire and is in its 5th year of collecting holiday cards to send to the elderly in nursing homes. Please join us in spreading cheer this holiday season with the Caring Hearts Card Drive! Click Here for all the details, including what to send and where to send it. Note: All cards must be received by November 28, 2014. For more details, please head to the blogs of Vera Yates or Jennifer McGuire.
This is day 2 of the hop, you can find all about day 1 over at Vera’s blog, but for today the hop started over with the fabulous and kindest soul Jennifer McGuire – love that girl to pieces. So hopefully, you’ve been hoping along from Jennifer, but if not start there. If all has gone to plan then you should have just popped over from the equally awesome Kristina Werner. Wow, that’s two big sets of shoes to follow in LOL.
For my card I used the new Winter Blooms set from Clearly Besotted. It has these lovely winter roses (Helleborus) along with a snowdrop image too – both perfect for colouring. I have a winter rose in my garden and took a picture of it just as it was flowering last winter still with snow around, such a joy to have flowers in the depths of winter :D The image was white heat embossed on Neenah desert storm card and coloured with Prismacolor pencils and then I swiped white embossing paste through the Falling Snow stencil from Simon Says Stamp, being careful to avoid the flower area. The sentiment is white heat embossed on vellum and once everything was dry, wrapped around the panel and secured on the back. The panel is foam mounted on a top folding Marshmallow card base and a few sequins added for interest.
