Debby Hughes - Lime Doodle Design - Waffle Flower stamps, Simon Says Stamp and Hero Arts inks

Eek a totally one layer card! Although I like clean and simple design I often opt for a raised panel on my cards; I like the extra dimension this adds but if I’m honest probably more so because it’s easier to work on a panel and not have to worry about getting the rest of the card inky LOL. However, for today’s card I wanted to get that really clean look. I masked off the majority of the lower part of the card front and then stamped some of the lovely floral images from Waffle Flower’s Loved set. If you haven’t checked out Waffle Flower designs before then I highly recommend you to; Nina has designed some gorgeous sets.

My first point of call when I reach for inks, particularly if the images are solid, are the Simon Says Stamp and Hero Arts inks. These use the same formulation which goes on slightly blotchy but then smooths out as it dries to leave a lovely solid stamping. For today I pulled out Sea Glass, Sunshine, Orange Peel, Field Greens, Forever Green and Fresh Peach.

Two other things I find so useful when stamping solid images;

  • Firstly a quality card stock. I like Neenah solar white which has a smooth texture and just seems to give a great impression.
  • Also a Fiskars Stamp Press. The Stamp Press has ‘give’ in the plastic surface which allows you to really press the image down on the card stock to give the optimum impression.

Back to the card and the sentiment, stamped in Black, is in two parts which makes it easy to mix and match. I thought about adding a few rhinestones or sequins but for once showed restraint to keep the clean, minimal look intact :D
