Just before going away on holiday things were rather crazy and I didn’t really get much time to play with the June Clearly Besotted Stamps release. Now we are home, and as CBS is taking the month of August off, then I thought I’d spend some time over the next few weeks playing with some of the new sets and also some of the previous sets which in a whirlwind of monthly releases just passed me by.
Isn’t this Dragonfly just gorgeous! I’ve seen a few butterfly dies like this with one die cutting out a solid body and one die a detailed one but I’ve never seen a dragonfly like it. I started by water colouring Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor card with vibrant blues and then splattered with Hero Arts Pool spray and Imagine Crafts Shimmer Spritz in Frost. Once dry I die cut the solid body and then used a cut out of the detailed wings to act as a mask while adding some Star Dust Stickles through the gaps. This left the body so sparkly and rich – really lovely. I die cut the detail wings from Bazzill 40lb vellum and again reached for the Star Dust Stickles and painted the vellum wings – if there was one thing this dragonfly was going to be it was sparkly! The glitter glue causes the vellum to curl a bit when wet but once dry then can be manipulated into the shape you want. I used a little Glossy Accents on the body segments to attach the wings to the main water coloured body.
The dragonfly is mounted onto a Rounded Tag coloured with the Waves stencil and Sea Glass ink from Simon Says Stamp. Oh and a few more Hero Arts Pool splatters and some Studio Calico sequins too.
The sentiment is from the new Simply Quilled set and was stamped in Black on a scrap of Neenah solar white and trimmed out to fit the tag. Finally the tag was strung with some Hemptique twine and then mounted onto a panel covered with paper from Studio Calico’s Lemon Lush line.
