Seriously is it the end of July already? The summer is just flying by, I suppose it shouldn’t be a surprise as it always does! With this being the last Sunday in July it is also my last post as Guest for The Alley Way Stamps :( I have really enjoyed playing with these fab graphic sets and it was the lovely graphic feel to one of the leaf images from the Pick One set which got me stamping a repeat pattern on a piece of white card just to see what it looked like. I chose inks in Fog, Smoke, Fresh Peach and Soft Brown and although I did clean the stamp between colours there was at times a little colour mixing going on which I actually quite liked :D Once I’d stamped the pattern, it was a case of deciding what to do with it. I could use it as a background on a card …. I do love my tags, so I could cut one of those … and then I remembered the new Bookmark It dies from Simon Says Stamp – perfect :D

I cut the main bookmark panel from the stamped piece and then the hole reinforcer from some Slate card. I like how clean, graphic and totally flat this bookmark is. Although I was tempted to embellish more, I actually like a bookmark to be flat so it sits nicely within the book pages and doesn’t damage them.

I made the tassel from some Lawn Fawn twine using Stephanie Klauck’s easy to follow video to help me and tied it onto the bookmark. To keep things tidy I used a thick needle to thread all the ends through the centre of the tassel so the binding kept everything together. This is such a simple project but one I have already had a lot of use out of :D
