Do you get excited when Simon Says Stamp bring out a New Release? I certainly do! My post today is part of the Pure Sunshine Release Blog Hop so if you’ve just popped in here by chance then it would be great if you took a moment to start at the Simon Says Stamp Blog and follow the hop from start to finish to really appreciate all the new products being released today. If everything is running smoothly then you should’ve hopped here from Nichol Magouirk. Can I just say that I was very fortunate to meet Nichol recently and this hop is just perfect for her as she seriously has the most wonderful smile and happy personality; she radiates her own sunshine wherever she goes. Oh that and she’s ridiculously talented too LOL.
Here’s a little look at what’s in the new release. I make these lists as much as anything for my benefit; they really help me to see the whole release and how things tie in together. I hope you find them helpful too :D
So we’ve got 12 stamps, 11 dies, 7 stencils and 12 collection packs to make shopping easier! I particularly love the Friendship Messages stamp set, we’ve all been raving about the font used in the previously released Summer Garden set and so to have a whole sentiment set in this font is awesome! I can’t wait to use the Cloud Bank die in some summery cards and I’m intrigued by those little Seeing Spots stencils :)
I’ve got two cards to share today using some of the new products. Both have a beautiful Moroccan backdrop, one using the new stencil and one the new stamp and then on top I’ve layered die cuts and sequins :)
For my first card I lightly applied Sea Glass ink with a Mini Blending Tool through the Large Moroccan Stencil onto 110lb Neenah Solar White card. Then using more of the same card I stamped and die cut the ‘thanks’ and butterfly from the Butterfly Friends set in Sunshine and Pale Tomato inks. Isn’t that font just gorgeous and I love the leaf detail on the butterfly wing. I also silver heat embossed and die cut the cute speech bubble from the Thought Bubbles set. As soon as I saw that little bubble I knew it would get a good work out at my house LOL. All the die cuts were foam mounted onto the panel and a sprinkling of sequins added.
For my second card I coloured directly onto the Moroccan Background stamp with Distress Markers and then liberally spritzed with water before stamping onto Tim Holtz watercolour card. I love the variation this gives and how soft the colours are. I added a little ‘hello’ die cut from the previously released Butterflies set which I stamped Dark Quartz to match the peachy tones of the background. I also added a little heart swoosh from the Just a Love Note set. Again, I added a liberal dose of sequins and then mounted the panel onto a Fog card base :)
Of course there’s always lots of fun for you with a Simon Says Stamp hop! Simon will be giving away a goody bag to one commenter on every blog in the hop. That’s 15 different chances to win! The giveaways for the goody bags will close at 6:00pm EST on Thursday May 22, 2014 and a complete winners list will be posted on the Simon blog on Friday May 23, 2014 :)
Now it’s time to hop along to Laura Bassen; I know you will be in for a real treat! When I have a few moments to spare I love to wander over to Laura’s blog and just sigh happily at the stunning projects, full of colour and of course a laugh or two with her videos :D Have fun!
