It’s time for another CASE Study with the absolutely delightful Joni Nina Andaya as our muse for March! This week we have this stunner from Joni
I mean seriously STUNNING inking and design. What an amazing pop of colour! I’ve been meaning for ages to get the Picked Raspberry and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks and so having finally got my hands on them I immediately reached for them and set to inking up this one layer card. The latest Online Card Classes is all about one layer cards and I thought I’d challenge myself to really go for just one layer. Usually I start all my cards with a panel, but I thought with some careful masking to protect the inside and back of the card that I could really do this!
To start I clear heat embossed the balloon and happy birthday ribbon tail on Neenah solar white card. Then used a bunch of sticky notes to protect the surfaces I didn’t want inked and set to blending in the hot colours :) Finally I misted and splattered with a perfect pearls solution and added a few gold splatters too. The final touch was to add just a couple of gold sequins – it still counts as one layer right? Well I’m hoping so!
Then to add impact to this simple card I whipped up a quick bright yellow envelope with pink striped liner. And the conclusion on the one layer? I really like it and, all but a little smear of gold mist on the back of the card, I managed to keep the rest of it clean LOL.
To see what the Design Team got up to as well as to see Joni’s version of her own card pop by the CASE Study blog. Not only that but we have two guests this month, Sarah Gough and Kate Lorenzini!

Debby, this card is so, so awesome! It has so much oomph! :-) I love it!
I just LOVE this card – everything about it. It inspired me slightly today – pathetic result of course but I enjoy the process! Wish you had had more input in recent class. X
Thanks for the vote of confidence Gillian :) Off to see if I can find your card.
The lettering ending in a balloon is so clever!
