Happy New Year!!!

Here in the UK it is just past midnight and if all has gone to plan I will have had a lovely meal out with my family followed by games at home , Jools Holland will have just counted down to the New Year and by now everyone should be singing ‘Auld Lang Syne’ :)

I wanted to schedule this post to wish you all a Happy New Year and to thank you for visiting me and my little blog, for all your comments and support during 2013. I hope you will join me as together we explore what 2014 has in store :)

For this card I used the gorgeous new Kelly Purkey Twenty Fourteen die cut from glitter card and loosely adhered to a vellum panel which overlays another panel. I treated the lower panel with gesso and then rubbed a light blue Gelato into the top portion before squirting with a Perfect Pearls solution and letting the colour move and drip down the panel. The effect is one of beautiful soft dreamy colour in real life. :)

This card and Kelly’s fabulous die cut also points to a New Year’s resolution of mine. I make cards. I love to make cards. I love to give my handmade cards to family and friends, picking out a card I’ve made and matching it to their personality. I take such care and make matching handmade envelopes too when I can ….. and then I ruin it all by scrawling on it in my pigeon hand :( For Twenty Fourteen I want my handwriting to improve and inspired by some truly beautiful handwritten art on Pinterest I’ve even started a little Calligraphy too!

So here’s to 2014, may it be a happy, healthy and filled with the love of family and friends!
