Yey, it’s time for another CASE Study with our fabulous muse for January Donna Mikasa! Take a look at this week’s awesome inspiration:
I love Donna’s card so much, in fact at first I did more of a direct copy, but then I changed tracks slightly and white heat embossed my sentiment onto a vellum tag and layered it over another tag I’d blended distress inks over and spritzed with perfect pearls. I used the February Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp for my supplies and picked out some patterned papers to layer under my tags. The kit comes with some Claudine Helmuth white paint and I brushed a little of that over some of the patterned papers to mute the colours and give a distressed look. I also roughed up the edges and stitched a little too. I only attached the layers together in the middle so that the edges could stand up a bit give that casual look. So in the end, my case of Donna’s card turned out quiet different but hopefully you can see how I was inspired :)
Please pop by the CASE Study blog to see the Team’s creations along with our guest for January, Erin Thiem, and of course Donna’s CASE of her own card :)

Had to double check to make sure i was on your blog when I first opened it LOL! Not your usual style, but mastered with perfection :) Great card! Love the embossing on the vellum tag.
Hehe, it is a bit different to my normal style isn’t it Marisa! It was fun to try though :)
A different style for you, indeed, but so pretty! Love the embossing on vellum–so ethereal!
As always, gorgeous work!
I looked closely at your last couple cards with embossing on vellum and see no evidence of warping or wrinkling… I know using quality, heavy vellum helps but I can’t get my heat embossed vellum to be as flat as yours. Do you emboss or die cut first? Any tips you could share would be appreciated!
Good morning sweetie, this is gorgeous, big hugs Pops x x x
I love this embossed vellum! the card is layer so perfectly layered and topped off with that tag-gorgeous!
It does look a bit different from your normal stuff, but I like it regardless LOL.
Thank you for sharing this. I was at my wits end for a 50th birthday card. You might wonder what was so difficult but my friend’s dad died on her birthday last year so a difficult balance. This card worked beautifully.
lovely lovely layers, the vellum on top is just right.
