We have a LOT of winter birthdays in my family; just had my husband’s, my brother-in-law’s is this weekend and my sister-in-law and father-in-law squeeze in before Christmas! Then we move into the early New Year and it’s another brother-in-law and myself! I’m never quite sure if I should be wrapping in birthday or Christmas paper LOL.
So yep, lots of winter birthdays and, I don’t know if you find the same, but flowers and butterflies don’t always seem appropriate. Not when it’s so cold and frosty outside. So I’m going with snowflakes aren’t just for Christmas :) I’m going to be giving this gift card envelope to my sister-in-law – they are saving for a new household item.
I’ve rambled on and what I really should be telling you is that this gift card envelope is for this week’s CASE Study :) Here’s the gorgeous inspiration from Keisha:
At first I was really taken with the stamping peeking through the windows, but then as I got my supplies out and started playing the doubled up tags with the offset vellum butterfly took a hold – I do like a good tag :) I stamped the chevron tag from Kelly Purkey’s Tis the Season set on to the matching tag from Simon Says Stamp and then added a small Wplus9 tag stamped with the woodgrain pattern from Kelly Purkey’s Hello Fall set. The sentiment is from my go to set; A Little Sentimental by Clearly Besotted Stamps. Finally I just switched out Keisha’s vellum butterfly for an Ashlynn snowflake from Simon. Oh and the last thing; the embossed polka dots in Keisha’s card became my polka dot patterned paper envelope.
Please pop by the CASE Study blog to see the Design Team’s creations as well as Keisha’s own CASE and not forgetting our guest for November, Amy Tsuruta :)
Supplies: Stamps – Kelly Purkey tis the season, hello fall, Clearly Besotted Stamps a little sentimental; Dies – Simon says Stamp gift card envelope, medium tag, ashlynn snowflake, Wplus9 timeless tags 2; Inks – Hero Arts soft granite, soft pool, soft cantaloupe; Card – Neenah solar white, Bazzill 40lb vellum; Paper – Echo Park dots & stripes bundle of joy girl; Twine – Hemptique; Ranger star dust stickles; Adhesive rhinestones
Such a beautiful idea to use a snowflake and soft colors for winter birthdays. And, as always, another stunning project from you, Debby. I’m a Winter baby, too! I think that being a Winter baby means that we have the warmest hearts. :)
Aw Lisa, that is such a lovely way of thinking about it!
Hello Debby,
Our youngest son’s birthday is on january 15th. He never gets some summer presents )-:
I agree with your opinion, that butterflies and flowers may not fit in this season. But… I love butterflies, so I think, I will use them as an item on my cards through the whole year LOL
Anyway, I think it is a great idea using snowflakes on a birthday card. Your gift card holder is just perfect!!!
(sorry, my English isn’t)
Have a nice day,
Judith
Stunning creation Debby.
Love! That polka base makes me happy!
A darling gift envelope, Debby – love the layered tags and the touch of soft orange. Although I hadn’t thought about it before, I agree with your musings, snowflakes do seem ideal for winter Birthday wishes :)
What a clever idea to toss out the flowers and butterflies for your winter birthday cards! I love your vellum snowflake and that you chose such soft lovely colors for your card, Debby! Adding your gift card holder to the front of your card is totally genius, too…I love it!
The vellum snowflake is beautiful! Thanks for sharing all your stunning cards! Your page is one of my favorites! :-)
LOVE what you created – stunning.
Oh this is lovely!
