Hello and welcome to the Simon Says Stamp Summer Release Blog Hop! Hopefully you’ve come here from the amazingly talented Kathy Racoosin. I can’t wait to see what fun details Kathy’s added to her card; she always takes her projects that step further :)

I get that little tingle of excitement when I hear there’s going to be a Simon blog hop for it’s an extravaganza of wonderful people sharing fabulous projects showcasing all the fun new stamps and dies! Here’s what all the excitement is about:

Have you spotted that sunshine die? It was one of the first things I broke out of it’s packaging (you can see that card here) and all the trendy hexagon goodness got me experimenting with embossing paste here. Then there’s all the fauna and flora popping up in butterfly dies and wonderful background and detail leaf dies. In my mind’s eye I can see a plethora of nature exploding in paper form!

For today I wanted to explore the wonderful Petal Pieces stamp set. The set designed by Kristina Werner is packed with flower and leaf options to create beautiful layered stamping. I challenged myself to make a totally one layer card using a palette of Hero Arts inks in Wet Cement, Soft Cantaloupe and Pale Tomato :)

The sentiment is from the totally fun Inside and Out Sayings set. The set is designed for one part of the sentiment to be on the outside of the card and then the second part for the inside, but I didn’t want to hide the funny part of the duo away so popped it on the front too :)

Maybe it was having just finished my Petal Pieces card, but when I sat down with the sweetest skunk you will ever see from the Stinkin’ Cute set, I couldn’t help but think of ‘Flower’ from Bambi popping his head up through the blooms. So I stamped some more of the Petal Pieces flowers and settled my little skunk in amongst them adding in a few die cut hearts from the Holiday Shapes set :)

Finally, I have long wanted to have a go at a sequin shaker card and the Flat Bottom Clouds dies were just perfect. I die cut the three clouds from the front panel before backing them with acetate. Then put my new found love of foam tape on a roll into action to create little wells for the sequins. Finally I lined up some patterned paper, crossed my fingers and lifted the foam tape backing and hey presto my first shaker card!
