I want to share with you a little experiment. Yesterday I saw a stunning card by Caryn using the rose from Clearly Besotted Stamps Happy Everything set. Caryn’s colouring of the rose was seriously amazing and I liked how it had a hand painted appearance. Looking at Caryn’s supplies she’d stamped the rose in grey before colouring with markers. This got me thinking and so last night I stamped the same rose in the palest grey I have and then set to with pale grey Copics and blender. I tried to get the look of a pencil drawing from a sketch book where the artist has sketched the image and then added the faintest touches of colour. My youngest walked in and asked if I’d drawn the rose so I at least convinced him!
I punched the side of the white panel to represent a page torn from a sketch book and then mounted over a strip of patterned paper. I use this design a lot but find it adds colour and interest while keeping things CAS.
So what do you think? Looking on the rose this morning I can see I haven’t got my shading quite right but it’s an interesting effect that I will certainly try again.

Wow!! I could never, ever, EVER have envisaged that effect from looking at the stamp. Looks like I’ll have to buy that set as well, and I’m going to case this idea to death, I love it.
An absolutely gorgeous card Debby!
Debby, this is just remarkable! I, too, thought you somehow sketched the image. Just beautiful! :) Bravo!

It is true. The rose looks hand drawn if you ask me. Beautiful work.
