I love making cards for challenges, but just recently, probably along with the rest of the world during this busy season, I haven’t had much time. However, one of my New Year’s resolutions is to try and fit in just a smidgen of time every now and then to indulge myself. Soooo, while needing to make a 40th birthday card, I’ve managed to combine a couple of challenges with a CASE of Maile Belles I’ve been meaning to try and came up with this card.

Supplies: Stamps – Papertrey Ink big birthday wishes, modern wood mats; Inks – Versafine onyx black, Versacolor seashell; Card – Papertrey Ink soft stone; Dies – Papertrey Ink mat stack 5, double ended banners; Embossing Folder – Papertrey Ink; Stampin’ Up rhinestones

Last year I loved the sketches by Lucy Abrams and despite having a new born baby (many congrats on Lily’s arrival!) Lucy has found time to put together a new set of sketches this year. This card is for sketch 1.

The second challenge I used was another favourite of mine – Moxie Fab’s Tuesday Trigger. Here’s the inspiration photo.

I think the number theme was obviously an inspiration but I also thought the quilting around the numbers reminded me of the wood grain in Papertrey Ink’s modern wood mats. Here’s a closer look.

Phew, that’s me for today. Have a great weekend!
