I am taking a little break from Christmas projects to bring some watercoloured florals to you today using the Peony Bouquet set from Altenew. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
The Peony Bouquet set is one of my all time favourites and when I needed a little downtime the other day I pulled it out for some no-line watercolouring. I’m sorry there’s no video as I was away from home at the time.
I stamped several of the Peony Bouquet images in Antique Linen Distress Ink on watercolour card and watercoloured. Being water reactive, the ink blends with the watercolours as you paint to leave a no-line watercolour look.
I started by watercolouring each petal separately in a light tone and then added deeper colours to the shadow areas, for example, where petals meet or overlap. I worked my way around the flowers and leaves, and as the petals dried, I added further layers of more vibrant colours.
I trimmed the sentiment to a skinny banner and mounted it with foam adhesive before, in turn, mounting the panel on a kraft card base with more foam adhesive. Finally, I added a trio of gold sequins to accent.
