Today I’m looking at how to stretch our beautiful flower stamps from the spring and summer in to the autumn. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want for the weather to change just yet but it’s always good to work ahead slightly. Flowers bring me great joy; I love to photograph them, paint them and stamp them so in my opinion the longer I can use flowers on a card the better. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Recently I took the time to swatch out my inks and having all the lovely rainbow of colours in front of me got me thinking of colour schemes that I can use to take my flower stamps through in to the autumn months. If you avoid the fresh greens and bright colours and instead go for a more muted palette then I think you can stretch your flower stamps that bit further.
I chose a colour scheme of Perfect Peach, Rouge and Grapvine for the flowers from the Altenew Blissful Bud set along with Evening Gray and Lava Rock for the leaves. I stamped out three of each on Neenah Solar White and trimmed them out with scissors. There is a matching die set for Blissful Bud though.
I used a Nuvo glue pen and copper guilding flakes to add highlights to the flowers and leaves and also to add copper splatters to a white panel of card – the shine this adds is stunning. Then I stamped a sentiment from the Blissful Bud set in Versafine Onyx Black and grouped the florals together, adhering them with foam adhesive. I mounted the panel to a Pale Gray card base and then as a final touch added droplets of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Bubblegum Blush and Dark Walnut.
I love how the peachy colours combined with the warm greys and copper give an autumnal feel to a stamp set you would normally associate with other seasons.
