Today I’m taking a look at the new Altenew stencil release. This post is part of a blog hop (more details below) to celebrate the latest release. The new release is available now at both Altenew and Simon Says Stamp. There’s more information on the blog hop below, but for now let’s take a look at what’s in the new release. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.

Altenew June 2017 Release

There’s a nice mix of floral images, graphic patterns and organic designs. I chose to use the Grid and Mega Rose stencils for my samples.

Grid Stencil

I do love to use stencils as a subtle background to a focal point – adding and complementing the design without overpowering. I blended Lavender Fields and Deep Iris inks through the Grid stencil and then muted their colours slightly by blending Silver Stone ink over the top. I added a splatter of black spray and then set the panel to one side to dry.

I stamped the Build A Flower Magnolia in Intense Black ink and colour with Copics before adding details with Faber Castell pencils, glitter and white gel pens.

I stamped a sentiment from the Build A Flower Magnolia set on the grid stencil panel in black ink and then mounted the panel and magnolia with foam adhesive on to a white card base and accented with sequins.

Mega Rose Stencil

How gorgeous is the Mega Rose stencil! It’s a great size for creating a full card focal point but can also be cut down to create a smaller card or tag as I did here. I started by rubbing Sea Glass, Ocean Waves, Dusk and Desert Night inks through the Mega Rose stencil on to a white panel of card. I then lifted the stencil and splattered the panel with Sea Glass, Dusk sprays and Perfect Pearls.

When dry I sewed a piece of acetate on to the panel and when two-thirds of the way round I stopped and filled the pocket with sequins before completing the stitching. I added a Happy Birthday die cut from black card on top and tied the panel with twine and accented with enamel dots before mounting the panel on a Soft Navy card base.

I also created a matching tag using the same products but for the sentiment white heat embossed a sentiment on black card and cut to a skinny strip.
