ALTENEW ARTIST MARKERS

So before I jump in with a project using the Altenew Artist Markers lets take a closer look at the markers themselves.

The markers being released today come as a set of 12 alcohol based markers. Here’s the info from Altenew:

Altenew Artist Markers are alcohol-based, allowing you to beautifully blend colors to any stamped images. Our various range of stamps is perfect for these markers. You can also easily pair them with our Crisp Dye Inks to take your coloring to the next level! The colors in this set are designed to be as close as possible to our existing ink colors, so you can take the color guessing game out of the way when coloring.

Key features of the markers are:

  • Alcohol Based
  • Brush tip and fine tip
  • Organically designed for easy gripping

Price: $44.99 ($3.75 each)

I particularly like the fact that you have a fine tip as well as a brush tip. I don’t know about you but I never use the chisel tip on my other markers.

The colors included in the Artist Markers Set A complement the colors of current Altenew Inks. You have four markers for pinks, four for greens and four for blues which equate to:

  • Frosty Pink, Coral Berry, Ruby Red, Grapevine
  • Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, Evergreen, Jet Black
  • Sea Glass, Ocean Waves, Dusk, Dessert Night

The markers are refillable (although currently there aren’t any refills available but may be released at a later date) and the nibs can be replaced.

Don’t they make just the prettiest pop of color!

For my project today I pulled out the Beautiful Day set as it gives nice open areas of flowers and leaves to play with the new markers. I stamped one bloom, two leaf sprigs and two blossom sprigs in Morning Frost ink, die cut with the matching dies and then used the pink and green markers to add color to the flower and leaves.

The markers come in a range of beautifully toned colors just as the Altenew Inks do – it takes away all the hard work of trying to decide which colors to use! I also like that the colors range from the very lightest pastel to deep rich colors so you have a range of options. For the flower I stuck mainly to the lightest two colors of pink with just touches of the third color. I blended these together with the lightest color along with a Copic colorless blender to give softly colored petals. With the leaves I used the Beautiful Day stamp set as inspiration to flick color in a more defined way from the edges of the leaves towards their centres. I used Faber Castell pencils for final details and to draw in the flower stamens to which I also added gold gel pen highlights.

I foam mounted the die cuts on a circle of Fog circle card stamped in clear embossing ink with the Wood Palette Background and then white heat embossed. For the sentiment I used the Floral Sprig set and gold heat embossed the sentiment on a circle of white card. To finish I added some random stitching, sequins and pearls.
