Monday, gosh the weekend flew by! Just before the weekend I started this card using the Coffee And Tea stamp set from Simon Says Stamp’s February 2017 Card Kit. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
The cute images in this set make it such a simple card to put together. I stamped the cup in Onyx Black ink on watercolor card and on masking paper, trimmed the mask and adhered and then stamped the tea bag and sentiment all huddled together. One lesson I’ve learnt is it’s a good idea to either let the ink dry for a while before watercoloring or dry it off quickly with a heat tool to save the lines smudging as you color.
A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong it is until it’s in hot water. – Eleanor Roosevelt.
Isn’t that a cracking sentiment! The portrayal of a strong woman makes a great encouragement card for someone setting on an adventure, a new job or even experiencing tough times.
I added some quick layers of watercolor to the images and added light shadows underneath so they weren’t floating in mid-air. Using Faber Castell colored pencils I added more depth to the shadows and then cut the finished watercolor with a Stitched Rectangle and blended a light layer of Antique Linen Distress Ink around the edges before mounting on a Desert Storm card base.
This softly watercolored card is in contrast to the colorful February Card Kit but does show how you can adapt a kit to any style :D

Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
