Today’s post is part of a blog hop to celebrate all the new releases from Simon Says Stamp. It’s been a busy week with the December Card Kit, Advent release and Limited Edition Holiday Card Kit. I’ve got LOTS to share today so grab a cuppa and put your feet up for a few moments :D I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
I love the vintage feel to the Limited Edition Holiday Card Kit! The kit is absolutely jam-packed and I couldn’t stop making things. Even then I only touched the surface of the supplies included.
Next I was rummaging for the Tim Holtz stencil and Retro Deer die. On a piece of watercolor card cut with a Stitched Rectangle I stencilled the trees in Bundled Sage, Pine Needles and Iced Spruce before swiping Grit Paste through the stencil here and there to represent snow.
I cut the Retro Deer die from more watercolor card and blended Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain before rubbing in Multi Medium Matte and then dunking in the Rock Candy Distress glitter. I also squeezed a little of the red Joyful stickles on his nose ;) From the Cream card in the kit I made a side folding card base and covered the front in some of the Authentique patterned paper.
Then I rubbed Antique Linen Distress ink around everything and added to the card base with foam adhesive. I love the My Mind’s Eye stickers and picked out the large Joy one along with a few circles to embellish. Oh and I added a few drops of Platinum stickles here and there too.
To go along with the two cards I made a few little extras :D Top left is a Pillow Box cut from the patterned paper with one of the Natural Mini Tags stamped with a sentiment from Swell Christmas in Schoolhouse Red, Fern and Khaki with a My Mind’s Eye sticker.
Lower left I used the Cream Mini Envelope and added paper and a Stitched Circle plus My Mind’s Eye Sticker. Oh and I stamped the ‘to’ and dotted lines in Dark Chocolate using the Make An Invitation set.
Finally for the Stitched Tag lower right I used the Swell Christmas set, stamping the banner in Schoolhouse Red and heat embossing the bells before trimming out and rubbing with Antique Linen. I loosely watercolored a background and then layered all the elements including a My Mind’s Eye sticker.
Let’s switch from vintage to cute and take a look at the December Card Kit :D Our extended family has lots of teens and young adults and so at Christmas time I find I need plentiful supplies of gift card and money envelopes. I used the mini envelope included in the kit as a template and trimmed out three envelopes from the Doodlebug patterned papers.
I stamped several of the images from the Merry & Bright set in Intense Black ink, trimmed out and colored with Copics and added extra depth and details with pencils, Spica glitter pens, white gel pen and glossy accents.
Each envelope was held closed with bakers twine and a die cut Aubrey snowflake accented with sequins. For the final envelope I popped on the mail box from the Doodlebug stickers and added some of the envelopes just being posted off to Santa :D
The mail system is starting to show signs of the heavy workload at this time of the year so my Advent release sets only just arrived. I wanted to delve straight in to the Christmas Town set and so I thought it would be fun to show you a peek of my ‘work in progress’.
So far I’ve stamped the images in Intense Black ink, masked them and the hillside before blending in Rosie Cheeks and Melon inks. I then cut the panel with a Stitched Rectangle and swept embossing paste through the Falling Snow stencil. I do love the look of this pastel card so far and although I’m going to add some color to the scene I think I will keep it light and soft :D I’ll get this card blogged once it’s finished and photographed :D
It’s understandable with such an awesome week of releases that the new products have been selling fast! The December Card Kit has sold out but the kit components are available separately. Please see the bottom of this post where I look at what’s included in the kit and link all the products. Hot cakes comes to mind with The Limited Edition Holiday Card Kit too. As I write this there are still some kits available but have been selling faster than was anticipated. If the Limited Edition Holiday Card Kit does sell out then again you can find a full list of what’s included on this post where I link to the individual products. Finally the Advent release, which is all in stock except for the popular Christmas Town set shown above. However, you can still order this set and it will be shipped at the end of the month. Simon does everything they can to try and predict required stock levels but sometimes new products just resonate so well with people.
