Today we are celebrating the 7th annual Caring Hearts Card Drive with a fun blog hop! The purpose of this card drive is to collect handmade holiday cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes around the world. Since 2010 we have brought joy to many nursing homes throughout the US, Canada and Australia. And this year, we are branching out to the UK! What better way to share our love of card making than to bring joy to others, right? We hope you’ll join us in supporting the card drive. I do love a good hop (more on that below) and what better day for a hop for Caring Hearts as it is also World Kindness Day! I thought I’d crank up the fun level with a Christmas shaker card using the Christmas Toys set from Simon Says Stamp. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
To create the shaker element I cut a Stitched Circle from a panel of white card, backed the circle with acetate and then foam mounted the panel over piece of card on which I’d white heat embossed the Circle Doodle Background and blended in Lake Shores, Scuba and High Dive inks and in doing so trapped a bunch of sequins and beads. Over this panel I added a couple of snowy hills and on the top layer I’d stamped a greeting from the Christmas Toys set in Black ink. I laid the completed shaker part of this card on a Fog card base.
With the shaker portion now complete I stamped fun characters from the Christmas Toys set in Intense Black ink and die cut with matching dies before Copic coloring and adding shading and details with colored pencils and a white gel pen.
No hop is complete without fun giveaway, right? Simon Says Stamp has generously offering $150 gift card for this hop. All you need to do is visit and leave comment on each blog. The winner will be randomly selected from one of the participant blogs. You have till midnight Thursday, 11/17/2016 to leave a comment and the winner will be announced on Vera’s blog on Friday, 11/18/2016.
