The new Summertime Animals set is such a classic for summer! Filled with pineapples, flamingos, ice lollies and even a bear in swimming trunks! I can almost feel the warmth of the sun’s rays just looking at this set, which is a good job as it has spent a about a week raining here LOL. This post is part of a hop to celebrate the new Among The Stars release from Simon Says Stamp, of which the Summertime Animals set is a part. More on the hop and how to enter for giveaways below, but for now here’s a look at the Among The Stars release. All supplies are linked at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
Lets get back to those flamingos for now though! On a piece of Arches cold-pressed watercolor card I stamped the Summertime Animals images repeatedly with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then watercolored before splattering the panel thoroughly with left over paints :D I cut the panel with a Basic Rectangle which gave a perfectly cut piece and nice, clean edges. I do love my Stitched Rectangles but I can see that these Basic ones will be great for when there’s a lot going on with the card and you want to keep the edges distraction free.
I heat white embossed the sentiment on black card and die cut with a Basic Banner before foam mounting on the top of the panel. I took a leaf out of the book of Yoonsun – I love how she finishes her watercolors, and wrapped the top of the panel with some twine before mounting the finished panel on a Desert Storm card base.
The above card is all about the heat of summer, but how about something soft and dreamy?
